Celebrity provided crew profiles on one of their dailies.  Here is the OCR'ed version of the page.  It is far more readable in this format!

For our cruise the cruise director, Nick Weir, was not present the first three days due to some personal business in Vegas.  Apparently his wife is in the Cirque du Soleil in Vegas and this was her opening week.

NICHOLAS PAGONIS

MASTER

Nicholas Pagonis started his career with Chandris in 1990 by boarding the `Romania'. Although used during the second Word War by the Germans as a hospital, in the 90's she thrived as a luxury cruise vessel able to entertain hundred of guests. In 1995 Celebrity Cruises started with the building of new ships in Papenburg, Germany. New ships such as Century (1995), Galaxy (1996) and Mercury (1997) were born...

Not only did Nicholas join at the inaugural sailing of the `Century', he had the chance to be part of the New Building Team. He went on joining the new building team for the `Galaxy' on which later he served as a first time Staff Captain.

1999 proved to be another significant moment in time for both Nicholas and the `Century' when she set sail for Europe for the first time. After this experience, Nicholas joined the Galaxy in Alaska as a Staff Captain in 2000.

The year 2000 was yet again another start for Celebrity Cruises to expand its fleet by building new ships. Different sizes, different location of building. Nicholas took part in the construction of two brand new vessels; the `Infinity and the `Summit' in St.-Nazaire, France. And again the chance was given to him to cross the Atlantic from Europe to the States on the `Summit'. This time the date of the departure of the vessel will be engraved in his memory for ever... Three days after `helping deliver' his newborn, a little girl, Nicholas departed from his new family to embark on yet another exciting event.

New challenges have never been a burden for Nicholas Pagonis which is why he took on the position of Port Captain for Celebrity Cruises at their Headquarters in Miami. A position which he fulfilled for over a year.

The `call of the water' became to overpowering, however, Nicholas joined ships again at the end of 2002. By September 2002 Nicholas became a Staff Captain on the Summit, by far one of his most favorite vessels after which he joined another one of his favorites, the Century alternating between the position of Captain and Staff Captain.

Nicholas Pagonis graduated from the Marine Academy in 1984 and obtained his Captain's License in Athens, Greece in 1998. In between his contracts he resides in Belgium where he enjoys his family and home while he prepares for yet another contract to fulfill.

NICK WEIR

CRUISE DIRECTOR

Nick has spent most of his life at sea! ! His mother and father were entertainers on the famous Greek Chandris liners running between England and Australia back in the sixties. (Chandris went on to become the "Celebrity Cruises" of today). At one point Mum was singing on the stage of the s/s Australis while seven months pregnant and Nick was very nearly born at sea! His Father was a Cruise Director for over twenty years working on many famous ships including the Queen Mary.

It's only natural then that Nick and his brother Simon (who is also a Celebrity Cruise Director) have gone into the "family business".

Nick has been a Cruise Director for fifteen years working for various companies and on many different types of ships (including a three-mast "square rig" clipper ship!) . He is now very happy to be back at home with Celebrity Cruises. Some of the Celebrity Senior Officers and Captains have known Nick and his Brother since they were boys

and this makes for a unique and very special working relationship.

Nick's responsibilities include organizing the ships' entertainment programs and working closely with the Hotel Manager to make sure our guests are experiencing "a true departure" while cruising aboard the M/v Century. His most important job however, is keeping you laughing and smiling every day!!
